CREATION
Building a Coastal Identity
Working alongside the team at BooneOakley, I developed the primary logo for The Outer Edge along with a collection of custom illustrations and episode icons.
The visual language draws inspiration from weathered signage, maritime maps, handmade craftsmanship, and the rugged beauty of the coastline.
Each icon was designed to represent an individual story while maintaining consistency within the larger brand, creating a cohesive identity that could seamlessly live across video intros, promotional materials, and digital platforms.
CHALLENGE
Bringing Every Story Together
The Outer Edge explores the people, places, and traditions that make North Carolina's Outer Banks unique.
Rather than branding a single campaign, the challenge was to create a system that could adapt across episodes featuring everything from commercial fishing and local craftsmanship to weather, photography, music, and maritime history.
The identity needed to feel timeless, authentic, and deeply connected to the coastal culture while remaining recognizable throughout the series.

Identity System
Designed to Adapt
Rather than relying on a single logo application, The Outer Edge was built as a complete identity system.
Each episode received its own custom icon, title treatment, and branded introduction while preserving a unified visual style throughout the series.
This modular approach allows new stories to be introduced without redefining the brand, giving the series a recognizable identity that can continue to grow as new episodes are produced.
